FAQs
Please see below some of our frequently asked questions. If your questions are still unanswered then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Why do you have to get Veterinary Consent?
Legally, under the Veterinary Surgery (Exemptions) Order 2015, to be able to practice as Veterinary Physiotherapists and Hydrotherapists, written consent has to be obtained from a registered Veterinary Surgeon to ensure the animal is fit to be seen by us. Without this we cannot see your pet.
Do the owners have to get the vet consent?
No, we take your details to put on our system and then contact your vet practice with the form to complete. if your dog has also been to a referral vet practice we will also need to get consent from them. Once it has been completed we then contact you to book you in.
Once vet consent is received, what is the process?
We contact you to book you in for an Initial Physiotherapy session, a £30 deposit is required. During this assessment a treatment plan is discussed with you to fit the needs of your dog, this could include both physio and hydrotherapy.
How many sessions will my dog need?
For this there is no set answer, their rehab can be influenced by a variety of factors. Ultimately our aim is to make sure they are safe, comfortable and progressing well.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 48 hours notice for cancellations, anything after this does incur the full price of the session.
My dog is reactive, can I avoid other dogs?
Yes absolutely, we have a back entrance to the building that will bypass all dogs in the waiting area. Your dog will also be the only one in the treatment room.
Can I see the same therapist every time?
Yes you can request to have the same therapist on every visit, they have their set times each week in each modality. We may not always be able to guarantee due to holidays and sickness.
How is the water maintained in the pool and the underwater treadmill?
The water is tested 3-4 times a day to ensure all levels are safe. The water is chlorinated and heated to 28-30 degrees Celcius.
Can I get in the water with my dog?
Sadly no, due to insurance and regulations from our governing body NARCH.
There is nothing wrong with my dog, can I still come?
Yes absolutely. Whether it is for a general check over, learning to swim or just having fun, you can still come and use our facilities. Please bear in mind that we do still need to get vet consent.
Why is there a difference in price for rehab and fitness swims?
A rehab client is classed as them having a diagnosed condition from their vet. Rehab clients require more time with paper work, report writing and reassessing their rehab plan. We also have weekly team meetings to discuss cases to ensure everyone is happy with progress.
Can I claim for their treatment on my insurance?
We always advise to check your own individual policy to understand the amount of cover provided. If you can then we will be happy to assist you. We do not do direct claims.
